Shelly is a native of North Central Iowa and has been in the Mount Vernon area since 2009. Her career in the financial industry began in 1987 when she joined Manufacturers Bank & Trust Company, a locally owned bank in Forest City, Iowa. She worked in the customer service area, the loan department, and joined their investment center when it was formed in 1992.

Shelly began her own business in 1995. She owned and operated a full line furniture, home décor, and gift store for nearly 10 years. Shelly taught entrepreneurship classes for North Iowa Area Community College as well as the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. She also did individual counseling for new business ventures at the SBDC at Kirkwood.

Prior to joining the Mount Vernon Investment Center, Shelly had been an OSJ manager for the Compliance Department of a broker-dealer firm in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This experience enriched her perspective in what truly is the best decision for clients and their situation.

Shelly has operated the Mount Vernon Investment Center located within Mount Vernon Bank & Trust Company since 2013, and in 2018 expanded to a second location at 204 Glenn Street SE in the Koppenhaver Office Building in Mount Vernon.  Making suitable individualized recommendations is of the utmost importance to Shelly, and this distinguishes her as a financial professional with a personalized and comprehensive approach. Looking at the clients’ needs and filling those needs is the goal for a successful financial relationship.

Shelly and her husband, Lynn, live on acreage south of Mechanicsville, Iowa. Their acreage is a long-time dream for each, where they enjoy gardening; canning and preserving; and caring for numerous cats, two dogs, and 18 chickens. It is now a place that they are creating wonderful memories of the farm for their 3 grandchildren.
